This Week's Sermon: Monsters in the Closet

“Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Faith is scary to us because we can't see it. Like a child who imagines monsters in the closet, the unseen and unknown can be scary. But we have to trust that God wants to give us the best and that even though we can't see God, God has better things prepared for us than we can see or imagine.

All People's Trip: Sunday, August 1st!

Make sure your calendars are marked for this very special day! We will again be canceling our Sunday services at Grace and traveling to Milwaukee to worship at our sister congregation, All People's Church. We will meet at church at 10 am, load the buses, and worship at their 11 am service. They will again host a brief reception for us afterward. You are also welcome to drive yourself if you like, just be aware that parking is limited (mostly street parking). We will still have Thursday evening services as usual.

There will be a sign-up sheet on Sunday- please come and invite your friends, family and neighbors!

Baptism this Thursday!

We welcome another new member in God's family on Thursday night. Cole Joseph Burgos, son of Adan and Alissa, will be baptized. We look forward to this great celebration and to watching Cole grow in faith in the coming years.

A Way to Spiritually Support our Troops

This Sunday, we will watch a short video that tells us about a ministry called “Faith Comes by Hearing”. It provides soldiers with a small MP3 player that contains a recording of the New Testament. They can listen to it whenever and wherever they are. For just $25, they can have an easy way to hear about God's love at a time when they desperately need it.

Some Changes Are Good!

This year we want to make the Nursery available for pre-Sunday School age children to go from 9:15 - 10:15 on Sunday mornings. The Parish Education Committee has reconfigured the rooms needed for Sunday School classes to make the Nursery available. We greatly appreciate the adults who volunteer in education with our children and youth and want to make it possible for them to have a good place for their infants and toddlers to go during our Sunday educational hour. We also hope it will give some of our younger families an opportunity to attend Adult Forum or other special meetings that are happening during this time.

To make this available we will need volunteers to provide child care during this hour. The members of the Parish Education Committee are working on this plan and would appreciate having enough volunteers to make it possible to have a rotation system in place starting September 12th. We ask that you consider this way of serving and let AIM Ruth or the office know that we can sign you up. If you have any questions contact AIM Ruth.

Thank you for considering this important way to help our educational ministries at Grace.
